Lion Red Fox Memorial Premiership
Hard hitting defence and sound teamwork has given Te Atatu a fantastic win
over Glenora 12-4 at Harold Moody Park. The visitors were the first to
score and took the half time lead 6-0 thanks to a dashing try to stand-off
Jeremy Hills. The Roosters gave nothing away in the second spell with
centre Ralph Ah Van grabbing the second try of the match for a 12-0 lead.
Te Atatu lock forward Pita Froggatt was inspirational in defence and
topped the tackle count while hooker John Tomes did a great job of
controlling play from the ruck.
A three try effort by hooker Tim Harbott has given East Coast Bays an
upset win over Otahuhu 32-20 at Henham Park. Leading 18-6 at the split the
Barracudas held nothing back in what was their beat performance of the
season. The Leopards struggled to contain Harbott, who ran with pace and
agility out of dummy half on his way to a match winning hatrick.
The Richmond Rovers continue to impress in the 2007 season. The Lion Red
Fox Memorial competition leaders downed Manurewa 54-14 with winger Meki
Taufoou grabbing two tries out wide. Unfortunately for Marist they’ve
slipped further down the ladder into sixth position with a 32-10 loss to
Papakura.
